PROUD boss Tom Prodomo believes Bashley are beginning to mature – after banking a quarter-final spot.

Bash advanced to the last eight of the Sydenhams Wessex League Cup thanks to a 1-0 win at Bemerton on Tuesday.

Rhys Owen struck the only goal of the game in the 14th minute following good work from Charlie Kendall and Harry McGrath.

Prodomo said: "It's always nice to get to the latter stages of competitions and it was a mature performance against quality opposition.

"They have a really good frontline so to have kept a clean sheet against them in the league and the cup was a really good sign.

"It's two wins from three now and perhaps some of our younger players have answered questions about how we deal with difficult pitches and physical sides.

"It does feel as if there has been a clicking point and we have started to mature a bit."

Bash will face Alresford or Shaftesbury in the quarter-finals with a possible clash with Baffins to follow.

Hamworthy were sunk 2-1 by Baffins in the last eight on Tuesday, with Ryan Dovell's effort proving only a consolation.
