WIMBORNE chairperson Paula Henley insisted there had been “nothing sinister” about the recent resignations of club directors Paul Miller and David Emes.

Magpies moved quickly to appoint to the board revered scout and coach Terry Wateridge following the duo’s respective departures.

And Henley was “confident” she would be able to announce the addition of a further two individuals to Wimborne’s roster of directors either today or tomorrow.

She told the Daily Echo: “Paul and David are still associated with the club but we expect a lot from our directors in terms of what they can bring on a day-to-day basis.

“Both guys were very honest and said they still wanted to help but couldn’t fulfil their commitments as directors. It was nothing sinister.

“Rather than allow it to drag it on and have a board of directors that can’t contribute as we need them to, we regularly review the situation... people are generally honest and tell us if they can’t fulfil their commitments.

"We’re perhaps going to be more strict in terms of who comes on to the board, to make sure they can both carry out their duties and afford to devote the necessary time to the club.”

Wateridge, who has also assumed the post of Magpies' youth development director, is best known for unearthing the glittering talent of current Liverpool star Adam Lallana, while employed as Cherries' youth development officer

He previously worked with Magpies boss Matty Holmes at Cherries’ development centre and has spent the past six months operating as Wimborne’s head of recruitment.

“Terry’s background and knowledge are extensive,” said Henley.

“I noticed he was getting more and more involved in things so thought I’d speak to him.

“He has lots of contacts and can bring to Wimborne what nobody else can.”

Businesswoman Henley estimates she spends up to five hours on club business each day but is hopeful further help is just around the corner.

“It doesn’t stop," she said. "You just get caught up in it. I don’t think people realise before they get involved just how immersed in it you become.

“I feel quite confident that today or tomorrow, I’ll be able to announce two more people to the board.

“They’ve been selected because they can devote the time to the club we need.”

Holmes's progressive team, 13th in Southern South & West, tomorrow host Didcot, one place above them in the table.

And Henley saw enough in the way Magpies ran high-flying pair Salisbury and Swindon Supermarine close on their two most recent outings to be optimistic ahead of the clash: "If we play like we have been then we will take one or two teams apart and I’m hoping tomorrow might be the start of that.

"Matty won’t let the lads think like that. But, for me, knowing the way we can play, my expectation is that that we should win against Didcot."
