MANAGER Ollie Cherrett wants Christchurch to seriously frank their Wessex One promotion credentials over the festive period.

Priory tonight host struggling Pewsey Vale at Hurn Bridge, the first of three successive home games before the turn of the year.

A six-match unbeaten run has enabled fourth-placed Christchurch to keep pace with the leaders and also earned them the November club-of-the-month award in Wessex One.

Priory, who face Pewsey Vale on the back of a 1-1 draw at third-placed Baffins Milton Rovers on Saturday, see out 2016 by hosting Downton and AFC Stoneham.

Cherrett, who has seen Priory win 10 of their past 12 league games, told the Daily Echo: “We are playing well heading into an important part of the season.

“It was a difficult test at Baffins and we got a well-deserved point. Pewsey Vale are at the lower end of the table but will still give us a stern test.

“There are no easy games and results this season have shown that. It is important we go into Christmas continuing our unbeaten run. This is a great opportunity to gain three points and keep up the momentum.”

Priory have a doubt over Chris Senior, who broke his nose after opening the scoring against Baffins, while Will Gage should recover from a back injury.

Meanwhile, Hamworthy United will visit Baffins in the quarter-finals of the Sydenhams League Cup.

Full draw: Portland or Team Solent v Tadley Calleva, Sholing v Hamble Club, Bemerton Heath or Bashley v Alresford Town or Shaftesbury, Baffins Milton Rovers v Hamworthy United.
