CARL Poore has quit as manager of Hamworthy United after just 19 games in the hot-seat at the Sydenhams Wessex Premier outfit.

Poore, who replaced Shane Traynor in May, leaves with Hammers second from bottom following two wins and four draws from their first 13 league games.

He guided the club into the first qualifying round of the FA Cup and presided over an 8-0 win against Cowes Sports in the Sydenhams League Cup.

Poore was at the helm as Hammers started playing on a new 3G pitch at the County Ground and took charge of their first league win on the surface earlier this month. Hammers have lost four of their past six league games, including an ignominious 3-1 reverse at the hands of bottom-placed Verwood – Poore’s former club.

A statement on the club website read: “It is with regret that we have to announce the resignation of Carl Poore as first-team manager.

“Carl feels that he is unable to commit the time needed to manage the team due to family commitments.

“Dan Pidgley will take over the running of the first team until we can find a replacement manager.

“We would like to thank Carl for all his work that he has done and wish him the very best for the future.”
