BOSS Carl Poore believes the new 3G pitch at the County Ground has been “no advantage” to Hamworthy United.

Hammers registered their first Sydenhams Wessex Premier win on the surface when they trounced Fareham Town 6-3 on Saturday.

Tenants of Dorset FA, Hamworthy share the Blandford Close venue with a number of other users and can only train on Tuesdays due to advance bookings.

New signing Max Crow from New Milton marked his debut with two goals against Fareham, while Steve Smith (2), Steve Flynn and Matt Kemble also netted.

Poore told the Daily Echo: “I don’t think it has been a case of adjusting to the surface but we have only had one training session on it so far as we have had games on Tuesdays.

“Teams coming to play us are in the same boat. They are coming into the unknown and it is no advantage to us at the moment.”

Poore added: “It was a great result against Fareham and we played really well.

“Max Crow was fantastic and it was a great debut with two goals and two assists.

“We have made a few new signings and it is going to take time for the squad to gel. But, hopefully, we can push on after this result.”

  • Goals from Ronan Moore and Matt Casey earned Brockenhurst a 2-1 win over Wessex Premier high-fliers Blackfield & Langley at Grigg Lane.

The Watersiders were replaced at the top of the table by Sholing following their 1-0 triumph against Bashley with Dan Mason on target.

Experienced campaigner Carlo Tate netted for the second game running to pave the way for Lymington’s 3-1 victory over AFC Portchester. Charlie Willett and Luke Ansell also scored.

Verwood remained anchored to the foot of the table following a 2-0 defeat at Horndean.

In Wessex One, Ringwood battled out a 0-0 draw with Tadley Calleva at Long Lane, while New Milton were thumped 5-0 by second-placed Laverstock & Ford.
