HAMWORTHY United’s FA Cup journey came to a shuddering halt in a 5-2 defeat at Western League Brislington on Saturday.

Carl Poore’s men, winless in their five opening Sydenhams Wessex League matches, had seen off league rivals Lymington and Brockenhurst to reach the first qualifying round clash in south-east Bristol.

But the Hammers soon knew it was not going to be their day when Neikell Plummer rattled home a hat-trick with further strikes from Mike Rimmer and Jason Llama ending the tie before half-time.

Matt Kemble bagged a brace in the second half but it was too little too late for United.

BASHLEY battled back from an early deficit to go nap against Portland United and move up to third in the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division.

Kabba Jack levelled the match four minutes before half-time with Jesse Gould giving Bash the edge six minutes after the restart.

Jack notched his seventh goal in nine matches to make it 3-1 but Portland halved the deficit as the match became increasingly stretched.

Gould’s second just after the hour restored the two-goal advantage and Shane Sheridan rounded off the scoring four minutes later to put Bash within two points of Blackfield & Langley at the summit.

James Bergin’s goal was scant consolation as backmarkers Verwood Town were hammered 4-1 at home to Brockenhurst.

Mitchell Speechley-Price, top scorer Mark Barker, Ronan Moore and Ollie Griggs all found the net for the Badgers who remain unbeaten in six league outings so far.

Sam House secured Lymington a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Newport, while Bournemouth Poppies grabbed their first win of the campaign with a 3-1 success at Team Solent.

MAX Crow’s double saw New Milton come back from behind to beat Andover New Street 2-1 in Sydenhams Wessex One.

Ringwood’s troubled start continued with a 3-1 defeat at Alton, while Christchurch were 1-0 down when their match at Romsey was abandoned after 72 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch.
