JAMES Guthrie maintained his impressive FA Cup goalscoring record to help Verwood force a preliminary round replay against Wessex Premier rivals Fareham.
Guthrie netted twice in the final 15 minutes as the Potters staged a stirring second-half comeback, having trailed 2-0 to goals from Liam Kimber and Simon Woods.
His late double at Potterne Park took Guthrie’s tally in the competition to six, adding to his four goals in two games in the previous round against Hengrove Athletic.
- Temporary nomads Hamworthy United booked their place in the first qualifying round thanks to a 2-1 victory over Brockenhurst.
Hammers, whose County Ground venue is currently unavailable while a 3G surface is laid, were again forced to surrender home advantage.
But although Brockenhurst went ahead through Ryan Long at their Grigg Lane headquarters, goals from Connor Phillips and Steve Flynn saw them through.
Hammers, who added £1,925 in prize money to the kitty, will again hit the road in the next round after earning an away tie at Western Premier Brislington.
- Will Heather netted for Bashley but they bowed out at the hands of Wessex Premier rivals Sholing who had Alex Sawyer and ex-Bash man Pete Castle on target.
