MANAGER Ollie Cherrett insists he will be looking for personality as much as ability when he puts the finishing touches to Christchurch's squad.

The Priory boss plans to stick with the bulk of last season's side but has added playmaker Matt Steer, Ringwood Town's top scorer in 2015-16.

But while he admits he is still in the market for new recruits, Cherrett is adamant any additions must fit in at Hurn Bridge.

He told the Daily Echo: "We need to make sure we get the right personalities coming into the club for the right reasons.

"I am still waiting for one or two to make a decision or perhaps play in a couple of friendlies before we make a call.

"We are probably looking to sign two or three more, maximum. We don't need a massive amount, just that extra bit of quality.

"In a ideal world, we will sign another centre-forward and we do have an iron in the fire in that respect but we will have to see what happens.

"We have spoken to the people we want to speak to but as always, a lot can play out during pre-season."

Cherrett acknowledged some sort of turnover in his squad would be inevitable as a result of his plans but that all existing squad members would get an opportunity in pre-season.

"Everyone will get game time in the friendlies but there will be one or two stepping aside because you cannot keep more than 18 players happy," he added.

"We don't have a reserve side and you cannot expect lads who are not playing to buy into what you're doing if they're out for weeks or months at a time.

"There will be some tough decisions but the players will have their chance to shine."
