SHANE Traynor has joined Wimborne Town’s coaching staff three-and-a-half weeks after leaving Hamworthy United – but his successor does not fear an exodus of youngsters.

Traynor quit as County Ground manager claiming he had taken the Hammers as far as he could and was immediately targeted by new Magpies manager Matty Holmes.

A deal was struck yesterday to reunite two men who were colleagues at the Cherries Academy.

Traynor took some released Cherries teenagers to United when he started as reserve boss two years ago but new man Carl Poore does not anticipate a raid.

Poore told the Daily Echo: “If players want to go to Wimborne or anywhere else, you can’t stop them. They have Matty Holmes there as well and he is a great coach, so that will be attractive to any youngster but we have to try to keep them here.

“They will have the opportunity to regularly play men’s football whereas at Wimborne, their first-team chances might be limited. We want to see these lads make their names here and then perhaps move on to bigger and better things.”

n Hamworthy United's AGM has been scheduled for Monday, June 13 at the County Ground. All members are welcome.
