CARL Poore has been appointed Hamworthy United's new manager.

The ex-Verwood Town boss has filled the vacancy left by the resingation of Shane Traynor 11 days ago.

Poore had initially been targeted to be Paul Roast's sidekick at the County Ground but was offered the top job when the Wimborne Town legend could not commit.

Chairman Steve Harvey revealed Roast would "be in the background" to help Poore.

Formely captain of Poole Town during their successful Wessex League era, Poore took his first steps in management with Cranborne before taking over from Adie Arnold at Potterne Park

Verwood finished a creditable 15th in his only full season in charge and won in the FA Cup for the first time shortly before he surpisingly quit in August 2015, citing time constraints.
