Verwood Town's Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division campaign ended on a sour note with their heaviest defeat of the season on Saturday.

The Potters suffered a 6-0 drubbing at Fareham to ensure Alan Lay's men would finish in the bottom five of the final standings.

Liam Kimber got the ball rolling on 11 minutes with Simon Woods netting a further two goals inside four first-half minutes.

Any hope of a comeback was killed off when Benny Read bagged the fourth five minutes after the restart. Substitute George Davis and Ashley Tattersall completed the rout.

Verwood had beaten the same opponents 4-0 at Potterne Park in February.
