TOM Killick ruled out swingeing changes to his Poole Town squad and insisted his promotion-winning players had the talent to reward his faith in National South.

Killick is already preparing for life at a higher level and while the Tatnam boss admits new signings are needed, he is adamant the bulk of the current crop can hold their own in non-league's second tier.

Speaking ahead of Dolphins' final Southern Premier fixture of the season at Cambridge City tomorrow (3pm), Killick told the Daily Echo: "The vast majority of the players deserve the opportunity to play in National South.

"There is no way they would get blind loyalty from me. If I didn't think they were capable of it then it wouldn't happen.

"But I feel the vast majority of the squad deserve the chance and more importantly, I think they are capable of it. When you have those two things together, you are keen to keep players.

"I know the players have become a really close-knit group and they fought so hard to achieve this. I would be surprised if any of them didn't want to stay together and have a go at what they have been striving for.

"I love working with this group because they get on so well. I love seeing them when they are together because they do get a lot of enjoyment from being in each other's company and I'm really keen to maintain that.

"But, realistically, we do need to strengthen. In terms of our promotions, this will probably be the biggest jump we have had to make."

Defender Michael Walker and midfielder Steve Devlin are suspended for the trip to Cambridge as Poole go in search of victory and an eighth clean sheet on the spin.

Killick added: "Everything is a lot more relaxed now and the players are really enjoying playing in the current environment, which is far removed from the pressure they have been under all season.

"Having said that, we do want to finish the season on a high."

Elsewhere, Wimborne Town are due to round off their Southern South & West campaign at home to Yate Town, with Sam Old set to be added to the squad.

In the Sydenhams Wessex Premier, a raft of away trips await local sides. Hamworthy United clash with champions Salisbury, Verwood Town travel to Cowes Sports, Poppies visit Horndean, Lymington Town go to Newport and Brockenhurst face Team Solent.

Christchurch entertain Laverstock & Ford in Wessex One while New Milton Town and Ringwood Town are away to AFC Stoneham and Tadley Calleva, respectively (all 3pm).
