CHERRIES legend Steve Fletcher believes Poole Town has the resolve to push to become Dorset’s second Football League club.
The ex-striker and club ambassador joined wellwishers hoping to see Dolphins win today’s clash against Dunstable (3pm) and with it, the Southern League title.
Fletcher told the Daily Echo: “I know Tommy Killick very well, I keep in contact with him quite a bit and it is great to see their rise, not just this season but over a number of years.
“They have been a great club for us to send our younger boys to for some experience. It seems like every season, they are winning the league or going for promotion.
“In three or four years, we could be talking about Poole pushing towards the Football League and that would be extraordinary.
“Their achievements are so commendable because they haven’t had loads to work with and have had to work so hard on their ground improvements.
“They have done more than anyone could have imagined and that is a credit to everyone involved. I’m sure Tommy will be telling his lads anything is possible.
“We have a good connection with Poole and long may that continue. The past four or five years have been unbelievable and I wish Tommy and his team all the very best.”
