CARETAKER boss Adrian Perry insists managing the transition at Hamworthy United has been a cakewalk – primarily because little has changed.

Perry temporarily stepped into the breach when Shane Traynor resigned due to personal circumstances last month before then vowing to return.

At the time, United's future was the subject of intense speculation with swingeing budget cuts and the prospect of closure vehemently refuted by club president David Manuel.

But Perry, who also serves on Hamworthy's committee, says he is content to look after things for as long as necessary, particularly with the status quo maintained.

Perry told the Daily Echo: "I always knew it would be a temporary assignment and the players have been absolutely incredible.

"I am lucky because being on the committee, I know what's going on. Irrespective of what people may or may not say, I know Shane will be back and I am happy to handle things until he is able to return.

"The budget is still in place, it has not increased or decreased. Some of the conversations outside the club have been held without the facts, so things can get distorted."

Perry takes charge of the senior side for the first time at Brockenhurst tomorrow. Matt Groves, skipper David Legg and Billy Walker are unavailable, while Jack Satterley and Matt Kemble are suspended for the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier Division clash.

Elsewhere, struggling Bournemouth Poppies will seek a first win in five in all competitions at home to Horndean, while Verwood Town entertain third-bottom Whitchurch United.

In Division One, Ringwood Town host AFC Stoneham, New Milton Town travel to table-toppers Portland United, while Christchurch face Totton & Eling at Hurn Bridge.

Lymington Town continue their FA Vase adventure with a trip to Western League Premier Division outfit Bristol Manor Farm. The winners of the second-round proper tie will scoop £1,000 and a place in the last 64.
