POOLE Town’s reward for toppling a higher-ranked opposition in the FA Cup is a trip to a lower-league rival in the third qualifying round.

Dolphins journey south east to either Herne Bay or Hastings United, who both ply their trade in the Ryman League Division One South, English football’s eighth tier and one level below Poole.

The league rivals played out a 1-1 draw at the Altira Park Stadium and replay tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Sydenhams Wessex League club Brockenhurst will have their work cut out to rewrite club history against either Wealdstone or Biggleswade Town.

The Badgers have already equalled their best run in the FA Cup by reaching this stage, matching their feats of 1992-3, 2001-2 and 2004-5 and scooping £10,925 in prize money in the process.

Patrick McManus’s men will have to bridge a three-tier gap if they face Wealdstone or two levels should they play Biggleswade in their fifth consecutive home tie in the competition this season.

The ties take place on the weekend of Saturday, October 10, during the interntional break, with £7,500 up for grabs for the winners.
