HAMWORTHY United and Bournemouth Poppies are understood to be among the Sydenhams Wessex League clubs jousting for the services of Christchurch midfielder Mark Smith.

The Priory stalwart, a former Poppies player, has amassed more than 250 appearances and 60 goals since joining the Hurn Bridge outfit in 2008.

Following relegation to Wessex One last season, Smith kicked off Christchurch’s first four fixtures but was an unused substitute in the 3-2 Hampshire Senior Cup defeat at Blackfield & Langley 10 days ago.

He was not included in the squad for last Saturday’s 4-1 extra-time loss at Team Solent in the FA Vase and is thought to be the subject of interest from up to three Premier Division clubs.
