HAMWORTHY United boss Shane Traynor insists the mindset of his players will be all important as they bid to win an FA Cup preliminary round tie – for the second time of asking.

Hammers registered a convincing 4-1 victory over Sydenhams Wessex Premier rivals Andover Town 12 days ago, only to later discover they had fielded an ineligible player.

Midfielder Kane Daysh, who netted in the win, was suspended regarding a matter involving his Sunday league team, an admin error which could have seen Hammers thrown out of the competition.

However, they successfully pleaded their case to the FA who ordered the tie to be restaged at the County Ground on Saturday with the winners earning a trip to Southern League Bideford on Tuesday.

Traynor, who must do without the services of Daysh as part of the FA commission’s decision, told the Daily Echo: “Some of the players have said they are excited because we have already played them once and beaten them.

“We need to reproduce a similar performance and it will all come down to mentality. It is about getting the same mindset and being positive. If the players put in the effort, hopefully, we will win the prize.

“I am sure Andover will be up for it because of the fact they have got another chance. We dominated the first game and thoroughly deserved to win due to our work ethic.

“I think they will come to us and have a real go. They have a style of football and are well drilled. But we have a plan we will stick and, hopefully, it will pay off.”

Goalkeeper Jason Collins, who was left out of last night’s 3-3 draw at Verwood due to a shoulder injury, could return, while Dan Smith is back in the reckoning.

Brad Hill, Matt Kemble and a Ben Kelly own goal saw Hammers battle back from 2-0 down against the Potters after Tyler Rutten had struck twice. However, Joe Wood’s stunning strike earned Verwood a deserved point in Alan Lay’s first game as a manager.

Hammers and Andover will lock horns for £1,925 in prize money, as will Poole, who host Western League Premier Division Barnstaple, and Wimborne, who entertain South West Peninsula Premier Division outfit Witheridge.

Both the Dolphins and the Magpies will be out to avoid upsets with their respective opponents two levels below them in the non-league pyramid. Poole beat Barnstaple 7-2 in the preliminary round in 2009 when Charlie Austin bagged a hat-trick.

Meanwhile, Ringwood will put their unbeaten start in Wessex One on the line when they visit Alton, while Christchurch host Amesbury and New Milton entertain Romsey. Lymington, 2-0 winners over Blackfield & Langley in midweek, host Wessex Premier strugglers Follands (all games 3pm).
