MANAGER Steve Cuss admits Matt Kemble is mulling over his Wimborne Town future – but left the door open for the striker to stay at Cuthbury.

Former Cherries scholar Kemble, 23, has spent the past four years with the Magpies but has found it difficult to nail down a starting berth since leading marksman Mark Gamble arrived two years ago.

Cuss has also snapped up flexible attacker Luke Holmes following the youngster's release from Cherries this summer, providing further competition for places.

The boss remains keen to retain the ex-Bournemouth Poppies hitman but insists he would not stand in the way of an unhappy player.

Cuss told the Daily Echo: "Matt is exploring different options at the moment. He felt he didn't play enough football last season, wants a regular starting place and has decided to think over his next step.

"We will have to see what develops over the summer but there is a place here for Matt if he wants it. He has done very well for us but has to do what is right for him.

"I fully support that because I understand players want to play and it is important that they feel comfortable that they will have a fair crack at it."

In addition to the 10 players he signed immediately after the end of the campaign, Cuss confirmed Jack Lupton, Franklyn Clarke, Luke Stone and Tom Biles would all be staying at Wimborne.

"Our priority was always to retain the squad that has developed over the past couple of seasons. That was crucial for me," said Cuss.

"The squad will be small again, like it was last season, but the important thing is that everyone here is capable of playing at Southern League level.

"There are always a number of trialists so we will have a few new faces around. Hopefully, one or two will force their way into the reckoning."
