MANAGER Tom Killick has revealed he faces a fight to keep out-of-contract duo Marvin Brooks and Luke Burbidge at Poole Town.

Midfielder Brooks, 25, who weighed in with 10 goals last season despite suffering an injury-plagued campaign, has been offered terms by Southern League Premier Division rivals Dorchester and Weymouth over the summer.

Meanwhile, 19-goal wide man Burbidge, 23, is being lured towards a step up to National South (formerly Conference South) football with Alex Pike's Gosport Borough.

Killick was speaking after agreeing terms with another three members of last season's squad – Will Spetch, Jamie Whisken and Richard Gillespie – with the Tatnam boss "confident" of retaining ex-Cherries defender Lewis Lindsay.

They are set to join Michael Walker, Carl Pettefer, Steve Devlin and Carl Preston in staying put.

Killick told the Daily Echo: "We're in talks with Marvin and Luke and remain very keen to hold on to both players but they have offers on the table so we just have to be patient and try to work something out."

Meanwhile, Killick confirmed the club had fended off interest in 18-year-old prodigy Jack Dickson by securing the winger's services on a one-year contract.

Dickson, a star performer in Poole's FA Youth Cup run last season, spent much of the campaign dual-registered at New Milton Town but was a regular presence for Dolphins in the Red Insure League Cup and Dorset Senior Cup.

"I'm really pleased. We really rate Jack and believe he has a lot of potential," added Killick. "One or two clubs were sniffing round so it is great to keep hold of one of our top young talents."

One player that will not be lining up for Dolphins next season, however, is Reading-based former-Cherries youngster Harrison Gilkes.

Killick said: "I don't think we will be pursuing that, it's just too far distance wise. He wants to stay full-time and if that doesn't come off he will probably find a non-league club closer to home."

Poole have confirmed four pre-season friendlies so far, the pick of which is at home to a Cherries XI on Saturday, August 1.

Killick's troops head to Verwood on Tuesday, July 14, host Gosport on Saturday July 25 and travel to Wimborne Town on Tuesday, July 28.
