LYMINGTON Town lost 1-0 at Petersfield Town on an afternoon that saw the hosts crowned Sydenhams Wessex League champions.

Lewis Hyde's 58th-minute strike proved decisive at Love Lane as the Rams ensured back-to-back championships and promotion.

Lymo remain seventh in the Premier Division with three games to play.

In Division One, New Milton Town lost 3-1 at home to promotion-chasing Cowes Sports.

A brace from Jared Wetherick and a thunderbolt from John McKie put the visitors three up before Morgan Turner got one back for the hosts.

Linnets manager Callum Brooks told South Coast Journalism: "We were not great in the first half but felt we were unfortunate to go in two down.

"They were very pumped up and aggressive but we didn't quite do enough to get close to them and compete in midfield."

Brooks's side sit fifth in the table ahead of next weekend's final game away to fourth-placed Amesbury, a fixture that could see New Milton leapfrog their rivals.
