MICHAEL Walker is confident that Poole Town remain the best team in the Southern Premier despite back-to-back losses at Chippenham and Dorchester.

Dolphins' title hopes were knocked by the double defeat over the Easter weekend but Tom Killick's men could get back on course with victory at Cirencester tonight (7.45pm).

Poole are five points behind league leaders Corby but have three games in hand and remain the bookmakers' favourites to top the standings come the end of the season.

Centre-half Walker admits his team need to get back on track against the Centurions and urged togetherness in the Tatnam camp.

He told the Daily Echo: "I don't think we feel pressure from outside as such but at times we put too much pressure on ourselves as a group.

"Because we have a standard that is quite high and when things don't go our way, we get quite frustrated.

"We believe we are the best team in the league but at the moment Corby are on a good run and are putting a bit of pressure on us.

"But we can't think about them, we just have to worry about ourselves. If we win all our games between now and the end of the season, we will win the league.

"Chippenham and Dorchester are hard places to go but losing both those games was unacceptable for the club.

"Cirencester is an absolutely massive game now. Having lost the past two, it will be the most important of the three games over the Easter period.

"It will be all about togetherness and will be a test of character for all the lads.

"We need to be at it from one to 11 and need to get back to a few good habits and winning ways."

The visit to the Corinium Stadium might be Dolphins' third game in six days but Walker insisted that fatigue would not be a concern.

And the defender added that adrenaline would keep tired legs going when the clash reached its latter stages.

Walker continued: "We are a fit side. I'm confident with the players and the depth we've got.

"For me, the fitness side of things and tired legs isn't a problem. We've still got plenty to give.

"As a team that's been up at the top of the league and are still going for something, I think adrenaline will carry us through."
