BOSS Steve Cuss insisted he had no problem with Wimborne Town's gung-ho approach against Yate – despite keeper Jason Harvell's busy afternoon.

James Stokoe, Luke Stone, Mark Gamble and substitute Matt Kemble got on the scoresheet as Magpies racked up a 4-2 victory in the Southern South & West clash at Cuthbury.

Stokoe nodded home the opener from Billy Maybury's free-kick 10 minutes before half-time and new striker Stone doubled the advantage after good work from fellow marksman Gamble five minutes after the restart.

Jordon Rogers hit back from the penalty spot for Yate but Gamble got in on the act with a fine left-footed finish which found the top corner from an acute angle with 69 minutes on the clock.

Yate's George Box immediately made it 3-2 with a sweet volley on 72 minutes but substitute Jamie Davidson found Kemble to seal the spoils during the dying stages.

Cuss argued both teams had been unfortunate not to score more goals but refused to despair over his side's defending as their attacking prowess all but ended their visitors' slim play-off hopes.

"I have to say, I really enjoyed the game," said Cuss. "From my point of view it was an excellent one to watch above anything else.

"Both goalkeepers made four or five really good saves but I was comfortable with that. I always felt we had a goal in us with the way Mark Gamble and Luke Stone performed together and I was delighted to see us score four times.

"It was an entertaining, free-flowing and open contest which suited the way we like to play. When it is that open, I am quite happy to keep it that way with the attacking players we have at our disposal."

On the back of a strong performance and with injuries gradually clearing up, Cuss reported he had no intention to delve into the transfer market ahead of the run-in.

The youth loan of Cherries winger Luke Holmes expires during the coming week with Cuss keen to renew the deal but other than that, the Wimborne manager said he had nothing in the pipeline.

Midfielder Jon Blake made a welcome return as a second-half substitute against Yate, while Davidson continued his comeback following a pair of separate injury problems.

Should Jack Lupton make a full recovery as expected over the coming week, Magpies would be able to report a clean bill of health.
