MANAGER Tom Killick has urged Poole Town to back up their triumph over Weymouth by breaking Histon’s long-standing unbeaten home record.

Table-topping Dolphins are red-hot favourites to win the title after last weekend’s 4-0 thumping of the Terras but the Stutes are undefeated in 11 league matches at the Glassworld Stadium, a run which dates back to August.

Promotion chasers Weymouth and Hungerford Town have been among their victims with Killick keen to see his charges show why they are a cut above on Saturday (3pm).

Killick told the Daily Echo: “You have to drive home the advantage when you are playing well. We need to make the most of this period by being relentless and picking up points.

“Leaving out the Truro game, you can be at your most vulnerable after your better performances and we need to be mindful of that in our approach.

“We cannot afford to think that we are invincible after the euphoria of beating Weymouth. Histon have a very strong home record and it is a long away trip.

“That combination of factors will make this a tough challenge.”

Meanwhile, Killick reported no further progress on the future of defender Neil Martin.

Weymouth manager Jason Matthews indicated to our sister paper, the Dorest Echo, on Wednesday that his club would not be in a position to pay a fee for the player, while Dorchester assistant Nick Crittenden played down links with the former Magpies left-back.

Ex-Cherries winger Harrison Gilkes (ankle) misses the trip to Histon but may be fit for Poole’s midweek match with Chesham.

Will Spetch is still “a week or so” away but striker Richard Gillespie returns after missing Tuesday’s Red Insure Cup tie through work commitments.
