LYMINGTON Town dealt a heavy blow to Moneyfields’ Sydenhams Wessex Premier title hopes as they hammered the high-fliers 5-1 at the Sports Ground.

The hosts were quickly on the front foot and stormed into a 3-0 lead thanks to Jordan Rose and a brace from James Davis.

A converted penalty shortly before the interval gave Moneyfields hope but in the second half Davis completed his hat-trick and Darren Ritchie rounded off the rout.

Elsewhere in the division, a quality strike from Charlie Gajic handed Verwood Town a 1-0 victory at Alresford Town, while Russell Cook’s double gave Hamworthy United a 2-1 win over Horndean.

Bournemouth Poppies had their match at Andover Town postponed while Christchurch had no scheduled fixture.

In Wessex One, New Milton Town eased to a 4-0 win over Andover New Street at Fawcett’s Field courtesy of braces from Robbie Woolner and Robert Teppett.

Woolner thumped in off the post within four minutes and midway through the first half, Teppett’s free-kick from the corner of the box found its way into the far corner.

A Woolner effort slid under the keeper to make it 3-0 before Casson Spencer headed against the bar for the visitors.

The unmarked Teppett bagged his second following the resumption when he slammed home at the near post.

Meanwhile, Ringwood Town suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Amesbury.
