WIMBORNE Town chairperson Paula Henley has made the shock decision to quit.

Henley, who had held the role for just five months, left the club yesterday due to “personal circumstances”.

The revelation of the businesswoman's departure comes just a day after the Daily Echo revealed the club's plans for a new ground, with Henley hailing the "potential" of the project.

However, she has now left her role.

Henley said: “I do have a genuine affection for the club and some of the people I will miss greatly. My ambition to achieve remains high, but I guess it will be another time, another place.

“Hopefully, the club will find another direct chairperson who will be able to turn things around for them. I do hope so.”
