BOSS Steve Cuss will be hoping for a change in fortunes when Wimborne host Southern League Division One South & West strugglers Fleet Town tomorrow (7.45pm).

The faltering Magpies were condemned to a third league defeat in four when high-flying Taunton sucker-punched them with two late goals on New Year’s Day.

Wimborne’s other result during the barren run was a disappointing 1-1 home draw with whipping boys Bashley, while Fleet arrive at Cuthbury still searching for their first away win of the season.

Cuss, who saw Saturday’s clash with North Leigh postponed, believes Wimborne’s luck is about to change, his optimism fuelled by Magpies’ showing at Taunton.

He told the club website: “It was a much better performance and we deserved something from the game.

"Unfortunately, you don’t always get what you deserve in football but, if you keep doing the right things, the results will come.”

Magpies will be boosted by the return of Sam Griffin, Matt Kemble and Adam Costello but Jon Blake is still sidelined and Jack Lupton remains a doubt.

Youth teamers Ant Waters, Louis Kellaway and Chris Wilcox have again been named in the squad.

Cuss added: “The three young lads who came in and made their Southern League debuts at Taunton did really well and deserve to be included again.

"They are a real positive for us and will increase competition for places.”
