KEEPER Nick Hutchings converted the winning penalty as Poole Town booked their place in the first round of the FA Trophy with a dramatic shootout victory over Staines Town.

Visiting substitute Romone Rose appeared to have sent the Conference South side through in the first half of extra time in the replay at Tatnam.

But Dolphins sub Charlie Davis scrambled home the leveller in the 120th minute.

Steve Devlin, Jack Maloney, Davis and Michael Walker scored for Poole in the shootout but Neil Martin hit the post with the hosts’ third effort.

In sudden death, Luke Neville side-footed wide for Staines and Hutchings calmly stroked the winner into the top-left corner.

Tom Killick's men, who pocketed £4,000 in prize money as a result of the triumph, will travel to Conference South Maidenhead United in the first round.

Dolphins: Hutchings, Tallack, Jermyn (Martin, 98), Walker, Whisken, Pettefer, Burbidge, Devlin, Gillespie (Roberts, 45), Maloney, Brooks (Davis, 82).
