DANIEL Snow’s second-half wonder goal helped lift Blandford United to their highest position of the season following a 3-2 win over struggling Hamworthy United reserves.

Snow lit up Park Road when he netted a stunning 63rd-minute winner to take the Royals into 11th place thanks to a fourth league victory in their past five games.

Blandford were rewarded for their early pressure when Luke Crane converted a 25th-minute penalty before Snow doubled their lead following good work from Sam Lanahan.

However, the Hammers hit back and capitalised on some slack play from the Royals by halving the deficit through Jamie Kay before Samuel Carr restored parity on the stroke of half-time.

Snow’s goal-of-the-season contender was the only real highlight of a scrappy second-half as victory took Blandford to within touching distance of the top half of the table.

Royals boss Brad Asagba said: “As we know, performances don’t move you up the table, points do. Despite a poor performance, we did the job and got back on track from last week so I was thankful for that.

“Considering the number of players we had out, part of me wanted to ignore the performance and just be grateful for the points. Collectively, it was one of those games where we just couldn’t impose ourselves on the game.

“We had to rely on a lot of effort, determination and organisation and, thankfully, we are now at the stage where we have certain individuals capable of producing match-winning quality and that was exactly what got us through.”

  • Poole Borough’s mini-revival continued as they came from 2-0 down to see off Sturminster Marshall 4-2 thanks largely to a three-goal salvo in the space of five first-half minutes.

Goals from Albert Harwood and Liam Cullen put Stur in the driving seat, only for their lead to be quickly wiped out by Shane Barney’s double and a James Stickland effort.

The comeback was sealed when Darryl Williams netted just after the break as the Hornets made it back-to-back league wins following 12 defeats on the spin.

  • Rhys Mendham (two), Scott Martin, Charles Parry and Mariusz Kawala netted in Mere’s 5-0 win over Tintinhull, while Dan Baggs notched Bridport reserves’ winner in their 3-2 victory over Westland Sports.
