MANAGER Dominic Cunliffe is optimistic he will have a full complement of players for Bashley’s lengthy trip to Evesham United in Southern League Division One South & West tonight (7.45pm).

Cunliffe praised his new recruits for finding ways to take time off work for the 270-mile round trip to Worcestershire, despite Bash publicly stating they have no means to pay their players.

“There were a couple of doubts but the lads have persuaded their bosses to let them have time off,” said Cunliffe. “That shows me a level of commitment and desire to put themselves out and represent the club which is a place to start.

“It is well publicised that there is no playing budget at Bashley so the fact the lads are prepared to forego earning money in their day jobs to play is very promising.”

Second-bottom Bash will be looking to end a miserable run of eight consecutive league defeats and close the seven-point gap to relegation rivals Wantage Town when they make their first visit to the new Jubilee Stadium.
