VERWOOD Town will be hoping to capitalise on their glut of cup goals when they take on Wessex League rivals Fareham travel in the FA Vase first round.

Some 29 goals have been scored in the four knock-out matches involving Potters so far this season with Carl Poore’s side netting 14 and progressing in two competitions.

That run includes a 6-4 extra-time success over Bristol-based Roman Glass St George in the Vase and Verwood’s free-scoring exploits continued in the Dorset Senior Cup on Wednesday with a 3-3 draw at Shaftesbury.

The Potterne Park outfit won 5-3 in a penalty shootout to set up a trip to Southern Premier League leaders Poole Town in the last eight.

Verwood go into Saturday’s clash (3pm) one place and three points ahead of the Creeksiders in the Premier Division standings with a £900 prize bounty up for grabs.

Elsewhere in the FA Vase, Ringwood Town host Wessex One rivals US Portsmouth (3pm).

New Milton Town host Tadley Calleva in Wessex One (all 3pm).
