BASHLEY suffered their fifth Southern League defeat in a row as they were trounced 7-0 by Didcot Town last night.

Graham Speechley-Price’s side, second-bottom of Southern South & West, handed starts to new boys Tom Hammond and Daniel Maher but faced an uphill task early on at Loop Meadow.

A penalty in the opening moments from John Mills settled the home side and the same man doubled the advantage with less than five minutes played.

Matters went from bad to worse for Bash when Leighton Speechley-Price was forced off with a back injury.

Luke Carnell headed home the third shortly after the half hour and marksman Pablo Haysham sent the hosts into the break four goals up courtesy of a superb solo effort.

There was no let-up after the interval and Josh Dutton-Black got in on the act to kick off a run of three goals in 13 minutes.

Mills completed his hat-trick and defender Sam Elkins rounded off the scoring with a free-kick in the closing stages.

  • Jamie Thoroughgood netted for struggling Christchurch in their 3-1 Wessex Premier defeat at league leaders Newport (IOW).

Elsewhere, an Elliot Ward goal proved only a consolation for Bournemouth Poppies as they were sunk 2-1 at Blackfield & Langley.

A Danilo Cadete brace sunk Poppies with the winner coming in the 90th minute.
