WIMBORNE Town were the victims of a clinical display by Stratford Town as the Southern South & West leaders claimed a 3-0 victory.

Missing keeper Jason Harvell and striker Matt Kemble, the visiting Magpies were up against it from the start at the DCS Stadium.

Chris Sterling put Stratford in front in the seventh minute when he pounced on a loose ball and lashed home.

George Webb and Mark Gamble both went close to an equaliser before Joe Halsall capitalised on a defensive lapse to lob keeper Ben Field from range.

The home side soaked up plenty of pressure in the second half and although they went down to 10 men through injury, they extended their advantage late on.

Tyrone Fagan forced an injury-time corner over the line from close range, to give the scoreline a one-sided look.

Magpies: Field, Arnold, Maybury, Oliver, Biles (Lupton, 60), Blake, Griffin, Davidson, Webb, Gamble, Stokoe. Unused subs: Brimson. Costello, Powell.

  • Bashley joint-boss Graham Speechley-Price had no complaints after his side suffered a 3-0 defeat at Shortwood United.

Lewis Sommers and Ashley Thomas put the hosts 2-0 up with less than 35 minutes played and Adam Price made the points safe shortly after the restart.

Speechley-Price said: “Shortwood thoroughly deserved their victory and we will have to improve against Totton on Tuesday.

“It was men against boys on Saturday but, hopefully, the younger players will learn lessons from the game and improve for the experience.”
