MANAGER Tom Killick insists prospect Charlie Davis remains part of his Poole Town plans – despite sanctioning a loan switch to league rivals Dorchester.

Davis was last night set to complete the paperwork on a month-long switch to the Avenue, linking up with recently installed boss Graham Kemp at Dolphins’ Dorset adversaries.

The midfielder, released at the end of his youth stint at Cherries in 2013, joined Poole last season having returned from a three-month spell in Spain and penned contract terms over the summer.

Having started the campaign out of Killick’s starting XI, first-team opportunities have been hard to come by for Davis with the in-form Tatnam outfit blazing a trail at the top of the Southern League Premier Division.

But Killick quickly quashed any suggestions that Davis could be heading for the exit and said his month-long Magpies switch was purely about securing his player much-needed game time.

The Dolphins boss told the Daily Echo: “In the immediate term, it is proving difficult for Charlie to break into the side but I want to make it abundantly clear that he has a big future with the club.

“Maybe he hasn’t played as much football as he would have liked but I have been very encouraged by his progress this season and would expect him to be fighting for a first-team spot with us in the not too distant future.

“This move is all about getting him some games and returning to us a sharper, more confident player.”

Poole will look to strengthen their position at the Southern League summit and defend their 100 per cent home league record against lowly Histon on Saturday (3pm).
