STEWART Kearn says Hamworthy United are relishing the prospect of a swift return to action ahead of their clash with Bournemouth Poppies tomorrow (7.45pm).

Following Graham Kemp’s departure from the hot seat, new boss Kearn got his County Ground tenure off to the ideal start with a 2-0 win over Andover Town on Saturday.

And a Wessex Premier home clash with local rivals Poppies comes at the ideal time for the Hammers, according to Kearn.

He told the Daily Echo: “We can’t wait for it because after a good result you just want to play again as soon as you can.

“It’s great that we have a game so soon because it often happens that you get a great result and then don’t have a game until the following Saturday.

“It will be a big game and as it’s a derby there should be a bit of added spice.

“Poppies always give 100 per cent and are well organised so we will have to be prepared for that. Hopefully, our confidence, desire and skill will see us come out on top.”

Martin Warren is unavailable for the hosts but Paddy Hester, Alex Martin and David Legg are back in contention.

Hammers: (from) Ackerman, Allen, Blackburn, Cole, Cook, Corby, Donachy, Horlock, Penny, Swann, Osborne, Miles, Walker, Hester, Martin, Legg.

Poppies: (from) Vaughan, Ayrton, Martinez, Doe, Pearce, Saadi, Khider, Robinson, Pekun, Lammali, Fairbrother, Sullivan, Arthur, Large, Hales, Bassiriki.

  • Verwood will aim to build on their weekend thumping of Totton & Eling when they make the trip to Newport (IOW) (7.45pm).

Port are without a league win in more than a fortnight, their last victory coming on September 6 when they defeated Alresford 5-1.
