COACH Taffy Richardson has urged Poole Town to pressurise their title rivals – by making hay against Southern League strugglers Arlesey Town.

Table-topping Dolphins host the third-bottom Bedfordshire outfit on Saturday (3pm) looking to add to their five-point lead at the Premier Division summit.

“These are the games that win you leagues,” said Richardson. “People look back and remember beating the likes of Cambridge City and Weymouth but in many ways this one is more important.

“Churning out results puts pressure on everyone else. Other teams are dropping points and we are not at the moment.

"It’s a mind game and if we do our job properly, show every team the same respect and keep racking up the points then everything stays in our hands.”

Midfield trio Steve Devlin (suspended), Marvin Brooks and Sam Matthews (both injured) all miss out.

  • BOSS Steve Cuss insists high-flying Wimborne Town will be taking nothing for granted when they travel to bottom-of-the-table Bishops Cleeve (3pm).

Fourth-placed Magpies are hopeful that influential duo Jamie Davidson and Jon Blake will be fit for the trip to Gloucestershire, while James Stokoe faces a late fitness test.

One of two teams yet to register a league victory in Southern South & West, Cleeve have shipped no fewer than 30 goals in their eight fixtures but Cuss was adamant the match would be no cakewalk.

Cuss, who witnessed his side dominate for long spells of last week’s FA Cup defeat at Frome, said: “We are looking forward to the game and view it as an opportunity to put last week’s disappointment behind us.

“We are keen to keep our good league form going in what will be another tough away match.”
