BOSS Alan Lay insists Swanage Town & Herston will keep going for the jugular in the FA Vase following their giant-killing against Downton at Day’s Park.

Goals from Graeme Rose and Aaron Corby handed the Dorset Premier League underdogs a comfortable 2-0 victory in a match Swans dominated from start to finish.

Rose blasted into the roof of the net 10 minutes before half-time and Corby rifled an unstoppable drive through a crowded penalty area on 57 minutes.

Ragged Downton surrendered meekly and Swans could have added to their tally but two goals were enough to win the £600 in prize money and a home tie with another Wessex One club – United Services Portsmouth.

Lay told the Daily Echo: “It was a great performance. The boys put in place our plan really well and I never felt we were under a massive amount of pressure. I couldn’t fault anyone and long may that continue.

“We scored at the right times and, in the end, won with ease. The biggest compliment I could pay my players was that anyone walking in off the street would have thought that we were the Wessex League side.

“I wanted the boys to do the club and the town proud and they didn’t let me down. They did themselves justice.”
