LETHAL Luke Stone scored hat-tricks in back-to-back matches as Hamworthy Recreation recorded two emphatic victories last week.

Rec bounced back from their capitulation at table-toppers Portland to rack up a 5-0 success over struggling Blandford United last Tuesday.

Keith Whatling’s men then won 4-1 at Westland Sports on Saturday with Stone scoring twice from the penalty spot in the second half.

The hotshot, who has now netted 11 goals in six Dorset Premier League fixtures so far, rounded off his treble late on.

Stuart Cannie (2), Matt Steer, Dave Weeden and Ryan Wolfenden were all on target as Merley Cobham Sports kept up their early-season charge with a 5-2 win at Shaftesbury on Saturday.

That result followed Merley’s 8-1 midweek walloping of Sturminster Marshall in which Grant Cormack notched a treble and Cannie bagged a brace.

Stur, however, climbed off the bottom at the weekend, earning their first points of the season with a resounding 4-1 victory at Tintinhull.

An own goal from Loic Herouard was followed by strikes from Verwood frontman Jordan Fisk (2) and Shane Orchard.

Depleted Wareham Rangers became Portland’s latest victims, suffering a 4-1 reverse at New Grove Corner. Sam Coakes grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.

Swanage Town & Herston shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at home to high-flying Parley Sports.

Striker Graham Rose cancelled out the visitors’ opener from Tobias Holmes, who had grabbed a four-timer in Parley’s 8-2 mauling of Cranborne in midweek.

The Cranes bounced back, though, when Luke Burnell bagged an injury-time winner in the 1-0 success at Sherborne Town reserves over the weekend.

Dan Manuel’s first-half double helped Hamworthy United reserves to a 3-2 win at Mere Town with Sam Carter scoring the decisive third after the break.

Elsewhere, Poole Borough were thumped 5-0 at Weymouth reserves, while winless Blandford were consigned to bottom spot courtesy of a 2-0 setback at Bridport reserves.
