POOLE Town boss Tom Killick will this week open talks over the possibility of extending Cherries striker Josh O’Hanlon’s loan spell.

The young Irishman bagged a swift first-half equaliser as Dolphins battled back from an early deficit to win 3-1 at Burnham yesterday.

O’Hanlon took down a loose ball before lashing an unstoppable half volley in off the upright to level matters at the Gore.

Michael Walker then put Poole in front on the hour and the result was sealed four minutes from time when Burnham’s Brad Hewitt’s stray backpass deceived his own goalkeeper as Killick’s high-flyers maintained their unbeaten start to the season.

And having secured Gosport playmaker Mike Gosney on a month-long loan this weekend, the Dolphins boss was quick to emphasise his desire to keep the in-form frontrunner.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “I will be speaking to Josh this week to see how he feels about staying on. “If he’s amenable to the idea then we’ll take it up with Stephen Purches at Bournemouth but from my point of view, I am certainly keen to extend it.”

On the Burnham victory, Killick added: “It was not by any means straight forward, we found it tough on a tight, bumpy pitch and they were a young, enthusiastic and energetic side.

“When we went behind I was worried we could suffer a repeat of last season’s result there but a really good goal from Josh settled us down.

“Burnham were always dangerous on the break and we were never completely comfortable but we got a bit of fortune with the own goal at the end.”

Poole return to Tatnam to face Frome Town tomorrow (3pm). Carl Pettefer serves the second of a three-match ban.

Dolphins: Hutchings, Tallack (Lowes, 75), Martin, Walker, Whisken, Jermyn (Lindsay, 85), Burbidge, Devlin, O'Hanlon, Gosney (Preston, 75), Roberts.
