SUMMER signings Andy Powell and Tom Biles could make their debuts when Wimborne Town open their Southern South & West campaign at Merthyr Town on Saturday (3pm).

Returning defender Patrick Wilson is in contention for a starting slot against last season's play-off finalists but striker Mark Gamble is a doubt (ankle).

Wimborne boss Steve Cuss said: "This game couldn't be any tougher, but we are well-prepared and looking forward to it."

  • In the Wessex Premier, Bournemouth Poppies will hope to build on their 3-1 win at Fawley when they travel to Horndean.

New signing Chris Toy, Marc Fairbrother and Sam Pekun were on the scoresheet on Wednesday.

Christchurch are set to make the journey to Bemerton Heath Harlequins off the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Blackfield & Langley, in which Matt Dodd netted the consolation.

Goals from James Davis (2), Warren Kenna and Jack Odam helped Lymington Town crush Verwood Town on Wednesday and Lymo now travel to Newport.

Verwood entertain Alresford Town while Hamworthy United boss Graham Kemp comes up against ex-club Winchester City.

In Wessex One, Ringwood Town are without a fixture but New Milton Town entertain Romsey Town.
