CHRISTCHURCH boss Adie Arnold declared himself content with his transfer business having snapped up another two mainstays from his Verwood Town days.

Defensive linchpin Ben Kelly has linked up with his old boss having finished last season with Blackfield & Langley, while ex-Potters hitman Mike Haskell has also put pen to paper.

Ex-Blackfield goalkeeper Jamie Bray and flexible attacker Matt Vining, who scored 13 goals in 39 games for Wessex Premier strugglers Fawley last term, complete the latest batch of players to join the Hurn Bridge overhaul.

It takes to five the number of former Verwood players that Arnold has signed this summer after midfield trio Nathan Saxby, Ross Hampton-Brown and Brad Hill chose to switch allegiances.

And while the new man in the Hurn Bridge hot seat admitted to making some tough choices over the summer, he couldn’t hide his delight having landed the bulk of his targets.

Arnold told the Daily Echo: “We were always keen to look at what we already had before making too many moves.

“Verwood have some very good players but after a lot of soul searching, I got the players I wanted.

“The good thing was that I didn’t have to talk any of them into it, they all wanted to come across.

“Like me, a lot of the boys were at Verwood for a long time and needed a fresh challenge.

“Ben Kelly left Verwood for very similar reasons to me and I have been chasing him since I came here.

“Given the right service, Mike Haskell will score at this level and the rest are at the right age with good Wessex League experience under their belts already.

“We’re not expecting to set the world alight in our first season but these players are only going to get better and they all have a big part to play in taking the club forward.”
