CHRISTCHURCH Football Club chairman Mark Duffy admits securing the final piece of funding for their new changing rooms would be like winning the lottery.

Work has ground to a halt at their Hurn Bridge headquarters as the Wessex Premier outfit has run out of money to complete the project which started last year.

The club needs around £30,000 to finish the changing rooms and is appealing to local businesses and individuals for help and support.

Priory, whose pristine playing surface is the envy of most clubs in the Wessex League, are hoping to have dressing rooms to match.

Chairman Duffy said: “It would be like a lottery win if we could have them finished for the start of the new season but we have to be realistic because it starts on August 1. It is unlikely we would be able to get them done by then but it is not beyond the realms of possibility to try to get them finished by Christmas. It is going to need an injection of cash.

“Work has stopped because we have no more funds available to put into the changing rooms. We are seeking local support from businesses and individuals who would like to help us get them completed because we would desperately like to get them live.

“We have spoken to a number of people and something may come to fruition but, at the moment, it is just talk. We need to finish the floor internally and then it is about the internal fit-out.

“We have a lot of equipment but we need to do the floor, a couple of doors and the internal utility fit-out. We have a kitchen, toilets, sinks, physio equipment and showers but we just don’t have the money to do the internal ceiling and floor.”
