A SUPERB stoppage-time volley from substitute Matt Kemble earned Wimborne a 1-0 win over play-off rivals Swindon Supermarine last night.
The striker was brought on as a replacement for Mark Gamble at half-time and fired home off the bar with seconds to spare.
Although Kemble was credited with the goal, there was a suspicion the final touch was off the head of goalkeeper Sam Warrell.
That win leaves Steve Cuss's side eight points off the play-off spots in Southern League Division One South & West.
Wimborne Town: Harvell, Arnold, Oliver, Maybury, Phillipson-Masters, Blake, Griffin, Davidson, Stokoe, Gamble (Kemble, H-T), Webb. Unused subs: Costello, Burton-Hemmings, Roast, Grose.
Verwood Town’s hopes of jumping above Horndean in the Wessex Premier table were dashed after they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Five Heads Park.
Goals from Nathan Paxton and Dan Martin ensured the hosts took all three points.
Verwood Town: Lynch, Evans, Murray, Molyneaux, Kelly, Dyer, Joy (Foster, 62), Oldring, Lovell, Gajic (Rutter, 80), Hill. Unused subs: Saxby.
