BASHLEY climbed off the foot of the Southern League Premier Division after claiming their first home league win of the season - a 3-1 success over Chippenham Town.

Captain Jack Odam opened the scoring after 18 minutes before Alan Griffin levelled matters five minutes before the break.

However, former Cherries youngster Brad Strickland netted to hand Bash the initiative on the stroke of half-time before Odam rounded off the scoring from the penalty spot on 72 minutes.

The win saw the New Forest outfit leapfrog local rivals AFC Totton at the bottom.

Elsewhere, Poole Town's play-off prospects were dented by a 0-0 draw with 10-man Hungerford Town.

Matt Day was dismissed in the second half but Dolphins drew a blank in a match played at Wimborne Town's Cuthbury home.

In the Wessex League Premier Division, Hamworthy United's home clash with Verwood Town and Bournemouth Poppies' trip to Newport (IOW) were both postponed.
