JOINT-BOSS Paul Gazzard admitted a lack of quality could scupper Bashley’s slim survival hopes after their home hoodoo continued with a 3-1 defeat against Corby Town on Tuesday.

Bash suffered a ninth successive home league reverse after being swept aside by the Steelmen’s triple blast before half-time.

Paul Malone pounced on some static defending to bag his brace either side of Nathan Rooney’s penalty.

Manny Soetan grabbed a goal back before Bash were denied a penalty of their own with 20 min-utes to go when Jack Satterley was booked for diving after he went down under the challenge of Town keeper Paul Walker.

And despite gaining a much-needed second league win of the season at Frome on Saturday, Gazzard conceded Bash had again found it difficult to implement their counter-attacking style on home soil.

He told the Daily Echo: “It is harder to catch teams on the break at home and, with the way we set up, it probably suits us more to play teams on their patch where they are likely to come out and play a bit more.

“We played very well at Frome but, at this level of football, you have to reach those levels game after game which is where our lack of experience shows.

"It (avoiding relegation) will be a big ask now and every time we fail to pick up points it gets harder.”
