BOSS Tom Killick insisted Poole Town were full value for their point at St Neots – even if it took another last-ditch leveller to rescue his side.

Star defender Will Spetch thumped home from Steve Devlin’s corner in the 90th minute to ensure a share of the spoils after Lewis Hilliard’s first-half goal had put fifth-bottom Saints in the driving seat.

It was the fifth time Dolphins have changed a result with a goal in the last minute this season, a tenacious trait which has added eight points to their Southern League Premier Division tally.

And while the Tatnam outfit sailed close to the wind in extending to eight games their unbeaten league record, Killick claimed Poole were more than worthy of their equalising goal.

The Dolphins manager told the Daily Echo: “It was no less than we deserved because we dominated the match after half-time. The first half was quite even but from the start of the second half they resorted to time-wasting tactics.

“If I was going to be critical it would be over our lack of cutting edge. We would have liked to see more punch in the final third because we put St Neots under significant pressure.

“But it was a reasonable point and I think St Neots will prove to be a lot stronger than the league table suggests as the season goes on.”

And Killick, whose side remain a point shy of the play-off places with several games in hand, was quick to praise the contribution of sought-after Spetch on the back of his sixth goal for Dolphins this season.

“Will put in another immaculate performance at the back and, as always, was a real threat the other end,” he added.

“He has this great advantage of being able to time his runs and meet the ball with an incredible spring. He can jump much higher than his opponents and that is a very good attribute.”

Meanwhile, Killick confirmed he has served Wessex Premier leaders Sholing with a seven-day approach for former Blackfield & Langley defender Terry Cuthbertson.
