TOMMY McCormick netted twice as Merley Cobham Sports returned to the summit following a 4-0 victory over struggling Parley Sports.

McCormick opened the scoring in the 55th minute before doubling Merley’s lead from the penalty spot three minutes later.

Parley, who dropped into the bottom three as a result of this defeat, held firm until Graham Rose and Jonathan Lever added further goals in the closing stages.

Tom Gagan’s double helped Holt United extend to five matches their unbeaten league run, the Bulls sharing the points from a 2-2 draw at Shaftesbury Town.

Mike Rees’s men have now taken 11 points from a possible 15, a sequence which has seen them climb to 12th. Eddie Perrett and Taylor Godden were on target for the Rockies.

Ben Clarke’s brace, coupled with a goal from Carl Bulman, earned Bridport reserves a 3-1 victory over Sherborne Town reserves, who replied through Darren Rowe.

Portland United’s Adam Linaker bagged the only goal of the game as the DPL moved into the last eight of the FA Inter-League Cup with victory over the Kent County League. The DPL will host Jersey in the quarter-finals at Weymouth in January.
