HOLDERS Holt United crashed out of the Dorset Premier League Cup at the first hurdle against Poole Borough despite taking an early lead at Turlin Moor.

Sean Rowles-Smith gave the visiting Bulls a seventh-minute lead but Lee Pender, Luke Wadey and hotshot Conor Jevon hit back for Borough in the final 20 minutes to secure a 3-1 victory.

Parley Sports won for the first time in five matches when they overcame Weymouth reserves 4-3 with Matt Newbery completing his hat-trick two minutes from time to settle the tie. Oliver Clayton also netted.

There was another seven-goal thriller at Tintinhull where Wareham Rangers eventually came unstuck in topsy-turvy clash.

Hamworthy United's Tom Biles opened the scoring for Wareham on eight minutes but Jacob Broomfield quickly equalised. Lee Timmins then put the visitors in front but Rangers’ Liam Currell levelled once more.

Broomfield's second three minutes after half-time put the Tinmen back in control before Dave Best swiftly restored parity but Timmins’ 68th minute strike eventually gave Tintinhull the verdict 4-3.

Blandford United also slipped out of the competition with a 2-1 home defeat to Bridport reserves with Simon Hyde netting for the Royals.

It was a similar tale for Hamworthy United reserves as Jack Hollingsworth’s goal proved in vain in a 2-1 reverse at Mere Town, but the shock of the |day was saved for Swanage Town & Herston who were trounced |4-0 on their own patch by Cranborne.

Dan Loader’s double for the Cranes was swiftly followed by strikes from Matt Read and Mark Gardner to unceremoniously dump out Alan Lay’s men.
