Non-league: Boss Killick wants Poole to banish cup blues
Killick is facing the task of rallying his troops following their FA Cup replay defeat at the hands of Staines Town on Tuesday.
As well as failing to cash in on a hefty pay-day, the Dolphins also missed out on a trip to League One high-fliers Brentford in the first round proper.
But ahead of their FA Trophy first qualifying round replay against Frome at Tatnam tomorrow (3pm), Killick admits there is no time to dwell on the past.
He told the Daily Echo: “A run in the FA Trophy would certainly soften the blow of going out of the FA Cup. To be knocked out of the FA Cup and FA Trophy in the space of five days is a fairly unpleasant proposition and we need to avoid it.
“We need to use the pain of Tuesday to provide us with some real determination to try to succeed on Saturday. That would brighten the mood because there is no point dressing it up, Tuesday was very painful for everyone involved.”
Poole are sixth in the Southern Premier, 10 points clear of opponents Frome. The league rivals, who drew 1-1 in the initial tie on October 19, are battling for £2,700 in prize money and the chance to visit Arlesey Town in the next round on Tuesday.
Richard Gillespie (heel) and Jordan Chiedozie (ineligible) have been ruled out but fellow striker Dan Cann is back from suspension and defender Sam Clarke is available.
Dolphins: (from) Hutchings, Brooks, Spetch, Cummings, Dibba, Whisken, Pettefer, Davies, Charles, Devlin, Byerley, Preston, Elliott, Oliver, Richardson, Turner, Clarke, Cann, Thomas.
