Non-league: Wimborne boss Cuss blasts leaky defence
BOSS Steve Cuss slammed Wimborne's leaky defence after watching his side battle back from two goals down - only to blow their share of the spoils at Cirencester.
Magpies were trailing 3-1 with 15 minutes to play before prolific strike partners James Stokoe and Mark Gamble both netted to seemingly swing the pendulum in Wimborne's favour.
However, Sean Wood plundered the decisive strike with five minutes left to secure Ciren's 4-3 success at the Corinium Stadium, leaving a crestfallen Cuss to contemplate the 20th goal his side have shipped in 13 league matches this season.
“I was disappointed because the goals we conceded were poor,” said Cuss.
“After we pulled it back to 3-3, we looked like we would get something out of the game, but we just couldn't hold on.”
Magpies: Harvell, Costello, Maybury, Wilson, Brian, Blake (Sainsbury, 54), Davidson, Hubbard, Stokoe, Kemble (Gamble, 54), Griffin. Unused subs: Sainsbury, Ackerman (g/k).
Luckless Bashley remain rooted to the foot of the table after a contentious late penalty helped Banbury United to inflict an eighth consecutive defeat on the Southern Premier strugglers.
Joint-boss Paul Gazzard took to the field himself as well as drafting in veteran striker Justin Keeler for the clash. Nic Jones, who left the club last week, returned in goal while former Poole poacher Scott Joyce made his Bash debut.
Jack Satterley's ninth-minute strike lit the blue touch paper but the Puritans hit back with goals either side of the interval.
Jack Odam's header appeared to have snaffled a point for the hosts with 12 minutes to play, but United's Scott Bridges took a tumble in the third minute of added time and dusted himself off to blast home his second of the afternoon from the spot.
Bash: Jones, Gazzard (Blackmore, 61), Flint, Strickland, Stephenson, Boultwood (Farren, 48), Roberts, Satterley, Joyce, Odam, Brookes (Keeler, 74). Unused subs: Morris, Bailey.
