Cuffie wants Christchurch to be more ruthless
MANAGER Michael Cuffie is urging his Christchurch charges to sharpen up their finishing.
Cuffie saw Priory squander a host of chances during their 2-0 defeat by Wessex Premier rivals Winchester City and when they exited the FA Cup at the hands of Sherborne on Friday.
Christchurch, who netted eight times in their first three league and cup games, will be hoping to rediscover their touch in front of goal when they travel to unbeaten Fareham tomorrow.
Cuffie said: “The boys have done very well and, although we did well again on Friday, we have got to start putting away our chances.
“I told them at half-time that we can’t keep having six or seven chances in the first half, only put away one and expect the opposition, however good or bad, not to have any. You only have to make one or two mistakes and you get punished. I would be worried if we weren’t creating chances and I have just got to get someone in to finish them which I am working on at the moment.
“I am happy with what I have got but I have got to look after the youngsters as it would be wrong to start them in every game.”
Priory are unchanged, as are Poppies for their trip to Winchester (both 7.45pm).
